The Chandler Saylor Athletic Scholarship was developed to assist Swansea High School student athletes of outstanding character in continuing toward their educational goals. This scholarship is awarded annually to a graduate and/or graduating senior of Swansea High School . The amount of the scholarship award will be determined annually by the Board of Trustees. 2010 Scholarship Recipient
James S. Ulmer, III
James S. Ulmer, III, "Trey" is the 2010 recipient of the Chandler Saylor Memorial Scholarship. Trey's involvement in athletics at Swansea High School includes 4 years of varsity football, in which he served as Captain for 2 years and was awarded "Best Blocker" in 2010. He also played varsity baseball for 3 years and was honored as a member of the "All Academic Team" in the 2010 Sandlapper Tournament. Trey has been a member of the Beta Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and served as Vice-President of the Future Educators Association at SHS. He has served as a member of Community Changers with Swansea First Baptist Church youth group. Trey was named "WLTX Player of the Week-April 1, 2010" and Cayce-West Columbia Rotary Club "Student of the Month-May 2010." He attended Palmetto Boys State during the summer of 2009.
Trey will be attending Clemson University in 2010 and plans to teach in the future. We proudly announce him the 2010 Chandler Saylor Memorial Scholarship. Go Tigers!!!
2009 Scholarship Recipient
Luke Beasley
Luke Beasley, a 2009 graduate of Swansea High School, will attend Limestone College. While at SHS, Luke was Vice-President of Fellowship of Christian Athletes for 3 years and President of the Beta Club. He was named "Who's Who of American High School Students," "Who's Who of American High School Scholars," and was also awarded "Iron Man" in JROTC. Luke lettered 5 years in baseball at SHS and played American Legion baseball for 3 years. His honors in baseball include "2007 Offensive Player of the Year," "All Academic Team" in Sandlapper Baseball Tournament and the recipient of the "Special Baseball American Legion Scholarship." He is a member of Gaston First Baptist Church where he volunteers as a student leader of his youth group, participates in Community and World Changers, and assists with Vacation Bible School.
Luke will be playing baseball at Limestone College and we are very proud to announce him as the 2009 recipient of the Chandler Saylor Memorial Scholarship!
2008 Scholarship Recipient
Kimberly Elchlepp
Kim has been very busy during her 4 years at Swansea High School! In addition to 3 years on the Lady Tigers Varsity Softball Team, she lettered on the Varsity Volleyball team as a player 1 year and Manager of this team 2 years. Kim has received many honors, including the Superior Cadet Award, Academic Achievement, Academic Excellence and the Distinguished Cadet Award (J.R.O.T.C.). She has been a member of the Beta Club, Tigers Paws for Cause, Future Business Leaders of America, the Swansean Yearbook staff and the Swansea Tiger Marching Band. Kim will be attending the University of South Carolina majoring in mass communications.
2007 Scholarship Recipient
Kyle Swearingen
Kyle Swearingen lettered in soccer for 3 years playing center forward and midfield. He was named all-region player for the 2007 season. Kyle was editor for the 2007 Swansean Yearbook, a member of the SHS Student Council and the Swansea Tiger Band. Kyle is an active member of his youth group at Lighthouse Baptist Church participating in mission trips and community service projects. Kyle will be attending Winthrop University majoring in Music Education. He hopes to one day become a band director in the Columbia area.
2006 Scholarship Recipient
Nathan Raulerson
Nathan was an offensive lineman for Swansea High School. He lettered in football 3 years and baseball 1 year. Nathan attends North Greenville University, majoring in history. He would like to one day teach history and coach football.
2005 Scholarship Recipient
Dale Murphy
Dale Murphy is a Swansea High School wrestling letterman. He wrestled in the 103 weight class. During his time on the SHS Wrestling Team, the Tigers won the 2001-02 State Championship. Dale will be attending Midlands Technical College.

Jessica Marie Wyndham
Ms. Wyndham, a 2004 graduate of Swansea High School was the proud recipient of the Chandler Saylor Athletic Scholarship. Jessica participated in many school activities including pageantry, Tigers Paws for Cause and Beta Club.
She was also part of the newspaper and yearbook staff. Jessica's community service included "Meals on Wheels," and "Adopt a Child at Christmas."
Jessica lettered in basketball, cheerleading and softball. She was named "Offensive Player of the Year" in softball. Jessica is attending the University of South Carolina for the 2004-05 school year as a Pre-Pharmacy major. Jessica received a continuing scholarship for the 2005-06 school year as well.
